Heiden Welders Create Aluminum Bridge
Two local companies recently partnered to create an aluminum walking bridge. Vinton Construction and Heiden Incorporated combined efforts to build an aluminum bridge for a facility in Manitowoc County.
The aluminum bridge took approximately 350 hours to weld and approximately 1,000 feet of square aluminum tubing and aluminum channel. The bridge is 60 feet long and weighs approximately 3,000 pounds.
The design and construction was a collaborative process and is DOT approved. The job took about a month and a half from start to finish with both companies demonstrating their flexibility and prowess in meeting the needs of the customer. This was possible due to the expertise of Vinton in conceptualizing the project and the ability of the aluminum welders at Heiden.
“It took three welders approximately two and a half weeks to weld this structure” said Karen Jacobson of Heiden Inc. She would pit her aluminum welders against any in Wisconsin. The three welders who worked on the project have over 75 years of experience between them. “They have been welding aluminum all of their adult lives and it is projects like these that keep it interesting” says Jacobson.
